Counter Sniper System
Counter Sniper System – Portable Dual-Channel Detection Platform with Laser Ranging and Multi-GNSS Positioning Solution
Advanced optical detection systems are needed for perimeter security, critical infrastructure protection and surveillance operations, since disguised observation devices might represent a major threat. The MHNV® Counter Sniper System integrates cat-eye effect detection, dual-channel imagery, onboard laser rangefinding and multi-constellation location in one compact platform. This device is designed for security professionals and law enforcement agencies and has early warning capabilities up to 1,500 meters with IP66 environmental protection.
The product has been developed by MHNV® as a general detection and localisation instrument. Weighing less than 3.0 kg and measuring 225×180×90 mm in size, it can work continuously under the environment of -20 °C to +55 °C, applicable to mobile patrol and fixed installation applications.
Core Detection Technologies
Searching for Cat Eye Effect
Active laser scanning takes advantage of the retroreflective characteristic of optical lenses. The gadget recognises targets with lens sizes >40 mm from 100 m up to 1,500 m under good weather conditions. The cat-eye principle offers a warning of a standoff without warning the watched target, giving a tactical advantage to the perimeter monitoring.
Dual Channel Imaging
The system integrates visible-light and near-infrared channels, thus achieving all-weather target search, recognition and observation. It has two viewing modes, full colour and fog penetration, and it can transition between them in less than one second to adapt to quickly changing visibility conditions.
Integrated Rangefinding and Navigation
The inbuilt laser range finder is eye safe and can range from 50 m to 1500 m with an accuracy of ±5 m and a hit rate of more than 95 percent. No separate ranging instrument is needed to measure the range.
GPS and Beidou satellite receivers and an electronic compass provide the positioning. The system provides real time self-positioning and target position data with angular accuracy of greater than 0.5° and target location errors of less than 50m. This three-sensor combination eliminates the dependence on any single positioning technique, and thus reliability in different field situations.
Zoom and Display
A continuous 1× to 8× electronic zoom lets you scan vast areas at low magnification and identify close-in targets at greater magnification without changing lenses. A large focal length manual zoom lens is added for precise tweaking to an electronic system. Dual OLED binocular viewfinders provide high-contrast images for comfortable extended observation in both handheld and tripod-mounted modes.
Recording and Wireless Transmission
Onboard storage accommodates over four hours of video and over 10,000 BMP type photos. You can export data over USB and connect directly to external devices for archiving or analysis. The built-in WiFi broadcasts live video to remote monitors so you may simultaneously record and wirelessly watch the video without any extra transmission hardware.

FAQ
Q: What is the product and how does it detect concealed optical devices?
A: The product is an integrated detection platform that uses active laser scanning to identify the cat-eye retroreflective signature of optical lenses. When a laser beam strikes an optical device—such as a riflescope, binocular, or camera—light is reflected back toward the source, creating a bright spot detectable at ranges from 100 m to 1,500 m. The system combines this detection capability with dual-channel imaging, laser rangefinding, and multi-GNSS positioning to locate and document potential threats.
Q: Can the system operate effectively in fog or low-visibility conditions?
A: Yes. The system offers two observation modes: full-color and fog-penetration. Switching between modes takes less than one second, enabling you to adapt instantly to changes in visibility. The near-infrared channel further enhances all-weather capability by maintaining contrast when visible light is insufficient.
Q: How accurate is the positioning and target localization?
A: Built-in GPS and BeiDou receivers combined with an electronic compass deliver angular accuracy better than 0.5° and target location errors within 50 m. The system calculates and outputs target coordinates in real time, reducing manual calculation workload and enabling rapid response coordination.
Q: Is the laser rangefinder eye-safe, and what is its range?
A: Yes. The integrated laser rangefinder is eye-safe and measures distances from 50 m to 1,500 m with ±5 m accuracy and a hit rate exceeding 95 percent. You can measure target distance and calculate coordinates without carrying separate ranging equipment.
Q: Can recorded video and images be shared in real time with a command center?
A: Yes. The built-in WiFi module streams live video to external devices while simultaneously recording to onboard storage. Recorded data—more than four hours of video and over 10,000 BMP images—can be exported via USB for archival or analysis. This dual-output architecture supports both field observation and remote monitoring.
