Handheld Thermal Multifunctional Binocular 900 | Long-Range Detection System with Integrated Laser Rangefinder for Professional Observation

MHNV® is happy to announce the Handheld Thermal Multifunctional Binocular 900, a professional optoelectronic system for enterprises, for all-weather target acquisition and surveillance. This premium binocular combines a 640×512 px uncooled thermal imager with ≤25mk NETD, eye-safe 8km laser rangefinder, full HD visible light camera, GPS positioning and digital compass in one ruggedised chassis. The MH-900 has unrivalled long-range observation capability with human detection range of 2800m and vehicle detection range of up to 7000m. The device has a weight of less than 2.04kg and IP67 protection, providing professionals with accurate situational awareness in tough conditions where traditional optics are not enough.

Superior Detection Performance Through Advanced Thermal Imaging

The device uses an uncooled infrared detector with great sensitivity in the 8-14μm spectral range, which gives excellent thermal contrast for identifying targets. The 75mm F/1.0 focal length and 640×512 pixel resolution provides sharp imagery out to long distances.

With two OLED microdisplays (1920x1080 px), you get a really immersive viewing experience and the diopter can be adjusted from -5 to +5. This 50Hz frame rate means that you can see in real time smoothly without motion blur.

The electronic zoom (1-8X) enables the operator to zoom in on far targets and still retain image quality which is important for positive identification in crucial situations.

Integrated Multi-Sensor Architecture for Complete Situational Awareness

When several sensing technologies come together smoothly, your operational efficiency skyrockets. The MH-900 brings together thermal imaging, visible light viewing, accurate range and navigation data into one integrated system.

The integrated eye-safe 1535nm laser rangefinder provides accurate measurements up to 8km without any risk to the operator or onlookers. GPS positioning and digital compass give instant location and heading information for accurate target synchronisation.

The ability to shoot photos and videos, coupled with real-time video output, provides the capability to document observations and communicate intelligence quickly. The all-in-one design cuts down on the requirement for many devices, decreasing equipment weight, procurement costs and streamlining field operations.

Rugged Construction for Demanding Field Conditions

Made from rugged aluminium alloy and reinforced polycarbonate, this binocular can survive the rigours of long-term field use. Aluminium casing for superior impact resistance and heat dissipation Reinforced PC components to minimise total weight while maintaining structural integrity

IP67 protection allows reliable operation in the presence of dust, rain or temporary immersion. The gadget has proved to be reliable across the temperature range of -30°C to +50°C that enables its application in different operational conditions.

Ergonomically designed for comfortable handheld use for extended periods of viewing. Its intuitive controls enable rapid deployment by a single operator with minimal training.

Professional Applications Across Multiple Industries

Search and rescue teams utilize the Handheld Thermal Multifunctional Binocular 900 to detect human heat signatures through dense foliage and darkness, with the laser rangefinder providing exact coordinates for rapid response coordination.

Law enforcement personnel conduct covert surveillance operations using the device's silent operation and 2800m human detection range, recording high-definition evidence for investigative purposes. Border patrol units identify subjects in total darkness while maintaining standoff distances.

Maritime operators navigate safely through sea spray and heavy weather by identifying navigation hazards and marking positions with integrated GPS. Industrial inspection teams detect thermal anomalies in power distribution systems and identify equipment failures before catastrophic breakdowns occur.

Wildlife researchers observe nocturnal animal behavior without disturbing natural patterns, while facility security professionals monitor perimeters in zero-light conditions.

Dual-Spectrum Fusion Technology for Enhanced Target Detail

The MH-900 has a visible light camera (1920×1080 px) with a flexible focal length of 4.7-47mm, which may be used for wide-area surveillance (34°×27.5° FOV) and detailed inspection (3.5°×2.8° FOV).

Fusion mode gives you the heat signature detection and the visible detail at the same time. This helps you to read identification labels or recognise specific characteristics while still being able to detect thermally through obscurants.

The digital focus adjustment guarantees the images are as clear as possible at different distances, without the need for mechanical parts that can break in tough settings.

FAQ

Q: What detection range can users expect for human-sized targets under typical conditions?

A: The device is capable of detecting humans at a range of 2800 meters and recognising them at a range of 800 meters, for a standard heat signature of 1.8×0.5 meters in normal atmospheric conditions. Detection performance is the ability to detect that a human sized object is present and recognition makes it possible to know some attributes. Realistic ranges vary with clarity of air, humidity, and thermal contrast of target to background temperature.

Q: Is the built-in laser rangefinder visible to the targets when it is operating?

A: The device operates using a 1535nm eye-safe laser wavelength, making it invisible to the naked eye and most common optical observation equipment. This wavelength setting allows for clandestine operation in the range mode, and meets international laser safety regulations for extended exposure. Operational security will be maintained during surveillance missions as the targets will not detect the range actions.

Q: How does the in-house storage system cater to field documentation requirements?

A: The internal storage can store thousands of still photographs and several hours of 1080p video footage shot in efficient H.265/H.264 format. File administration is possible via a USB-C port or wireless connection, allowing you to quickly transmit data to command centers or archive systems. Removable storage options expand recording capability for multi-day operations without return to base facilities.

Q: How often should the temperature sensor be recalibrated during long-term use?

A: Non-Uniformity Correction (NUC) via an automatic shutter eliminates image quality changes during normal operation, no user input required. This calibration is done automatically and frequently by the system to correct for detector drift and ambient temperature variations. For mission critical applications where highest precision is required, the laser range finder and digital compass should be recalibrated at the factory every 24 months.

Q: How long does the battery last with continuous use in the field?

A: High capacity rechargeable lithium battery systems allow for over 8 hours of continuous observation under normal usage. Actual time depends on the frequency of electronic zoom, display brightness settings, video recording time, and ambient temperature conditions. Replaceable battery pack for in-the-field replacement for extended operations without returning equipment to base, maintaining continued operational capabilities.
