Premium Clip-On Thermal Scope – High-Resolution 640×512 Detection System with 2,700m Vehicle Recognition

Xi'an MH Electronics And Technology Co., Ltd. introduces the MHNV® Clip-On Thermal Scope, a professional-grade thermal imaging solution built around an uncooled vanadium oxide detector. The system delivers 640×512px resolution with 12μm pixel pitch, achieving vehicle detection at 2,700m and personnel detection at 2,200m. Equipped with a 25mm F1.0 germanium objective lens and 1024×768 OLED display, this device provides 17.5°×14° field of view for rapid target acquisition. With 1,200G impact resistance, 7-hour runtime on standard 18650 battery, and Picatinny quick-attach interface, the platform is engineered for demanding observation tasks across -40°C to +55°C operating environments.

Engineered Detection Range for Critical Observation Tasks

The thermal core utilizes uncooled vanadium oxide technology operating in the 8–14μm spectral band. Vehicle recognition extends to 750m, while personnel recognition reaches 550m under field conditions.

The 25mm F1.0 fast objective maximizes infrared transmission, maintaining image clarity in cold environments where heat signatures are minimal. The 17.5°×14° native field of view enables broad-area scanning, while four-step digital zoom (1×/2×/4×/8×) provides magnification flexibility. Combined with 14× eyepiece magnification and ±3D diopter adjustment, operators achieve comfortable extended-duration viewing through the 1024×768 OLED display.

Rapid-Deployment Design for Zero-Downtime Integration

The Picatinny rail interface enables tool-free attachment to existing optical platforms in seconds. The standardized mounting system preserves optical alignment, eliminating the need for re-zeroing during field deployment.

Compact dimensions (≤170×80×70mm) minimize additional weight on host systems. Optional helmet bracket extends operational flexibility, supporting hands-free observation during multi-role deployments.

The 18650 lithium cell is globally available, simplifying logistics planning. PAL analog video output supports external recording systems or remote viewing applications.

Four Selectable Image Modes for Scene Optimization

White hot mode displays warmer objects as bright targets against cooler backgrounds—ideal for open terrain. Black hot mode reverses this contrast, reducing eye strain during prolonged observation.

Red heat mode overlays thermal data with color gradients, enhancing subtle temperature variations. Metal mode optimizes contrast for detecting metallic objects or structures.

Operators switch between modes with a single button press, adapting to changing environmental conditions without device reconfiguration.

Ruggedized Construction for Demanding Conditions

The 1,200G impact resistance rating ensures sensor stability and optical alignment integrity under high-shock scenarios. The -40°C to +55°C operating range maintains full functionality across extreme climates.

Internal components are engineered to resist moisture ingress and particulate contamination. The ruggedized housing protects sensitive electronics while maintaining ergonomic handling.

MHNV® conducts thermal chamber cycling tests, blackbody calibration verification, and optical collimation checks on every production unit. Each Clip-On Thermal Scope ships with serialized QC data sheets documenting performance parameters.

Enterprise-Level Customization and OEM Integration

MHNV® provides comprehensive OEM/ODM customization across optical, firmware, and mechanical layers. Customers specify magnification requirements, field-of-view optimization, and housing materials (aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, polymer composites).

Firmware customization includes user interface localization, gain curve tuning, and video overlay configuration. Logo customization and branded packaging are supported for volume orders.

Minimum order quantities begin at 1 piece for finished devices, with volume discounts available for bulk procurement. ODM samples ship within 15–25 days, and mass production completes in 30–45 days.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to re-zero my optic when attaching a product?

A: Factory collimated, high quality clip-on thermal units connect the optical path with the zero of your existing day optic, so that in most field applications no re-zeroing is required. During manufacture, MHNV® performs laser-guided collimation verification to confirm the entry and exit pupils are centred within <1 MOA, allowing the primary reticle to be your point of aim when the thermal unit is installed via Picatinny rail.

Q: What maximum magnification can my day optic use with this thermal device?

A: Day optics generally magnify (zoom) to approximately 8×–10× before pixelation is detectable on a 640×512px resolution sensor; 384-class sensors are usually limited to 4×–6×. MHNV®'s 640×512 platform with 12μm pixel pitch provides enough image density for long-range viewing with high-magnification eyepieces, especially when employing the 1× or 2× digital zoom settings.

Q: How does MRTD affect real-world detection performance?

A: The minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD) of ≤550mK enables the detector to see small thermal fluctuations, which is important in wet, humid or foggy conditions where the ambient temperature differences are negligible. Lower MRTD values lead to better target discrimination from background clutter, which results in higher recognition range for personnel and vehicle observation in different weather conditions.

Q: Does this work as a standalone portable thermal monocular?

A: Yes, thanks to the ergonomic housing and 1024×768 OLED viewfinder, it may be quickly detached from the mounting rail for hand-held scouting or area monitoring. The 45mm eye relief and +/-3D diopter adjustment offer comfortable viewing without extra optical interfaces, making them adaptable in both mounted and hand-held deployment circumstances.

Q: Is the unit compatible with all day optics and mounting systems?

A: The product features a standard Picatinny rail interface and is compatible with most modern optical platforms assuming 25mm objective lens diameter has sufficient clearance. Non-Picatinny systems utilise universal ring adapters. Customers should verify objective lens clearance and rail spacing before purchase. MHNV® technical assistance is available to assist with fitting analysis for special setups.
